Located on a peninsula in Lake Wylie, Tega Cay is 20 miles south of Charlotte. The name Tega Cay is Polynesian for “Beautiful Peninsula.” You’ll notice the tropical influence in the names of the streets, i.e. Palau, Palmyra,Windjammer etc. The 3-square-mile city has 13 miles of shoreline, hilly topography, and is densely wooded with hardwoods and tall pines. Tega Cay is a close-knit recreational community fueled by its volunteers. Tega Cay Golf Club features 27 holes of golf, a clubhouse/pavilion, tennis courts, beach and swim center, miles of walking trails, 2 parks containing baseball and soccer fields, 4 waterfront parks, a marina and 3 boat launching areas. Students attend Fort Mill schools, which are considered the best in the State.
Some popular subdivisions in the Tega Cay area are: Tega Cay, River Hills, The Landing and Baxter Village. Homes in Tega Cay sit close together, and lot sizes tend to be tight, but the community offers some of the most affordable waterfront homes on Lake Wylie.
